Harrah will miss Manship

Ali Manship ended her high school softball career just like she started — a winner.....more>>

  • Halbert’s hustle
The Midwest City Outlaws are on a nine-game winning streak and after run-ruling Topeka, Kan. 10-1 Monday night in the Olde South Plains Classic at Rose State College, Post 170 has a great chance to play for the title in today’s 3 p.m. championship.

  • Mid-Del well represented in Mid-State team

  • Ferrell’s flurry
The Post 170 Midwest City Outlaws American Legion Majors team notched their 30th win of the summer Sunday night after paying back Oklahoma Baseball Academy for a loss in the Outlaws’ Memorial Day Tournament.

  • Titans waltz through tournament
Carl Albert just walked through the Seminole State College Tournament culminating with an 11-0 shutout of Seminole by right-hander Caleb Price in the championship Saturday.

  • Horns top Chandler in Jones tourney
Jones rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the sixth inning to overtake Chandler 5-4 for the championship Sunday in the Jones Tournament.
The Lions took the 4-2 advantage going into the bottom of the sixth inning before Longhorn Cody Vandiver bunted for a base hit. Jeff Stursa was bunting Vandiver over, but his bunt was so picture-perfect that he too reached via bunt single.

  • Defense arises for Post 170 Outlaws
Defense is reigning on the Midwest City Outlaws team as Post 170 has not committed an error since Sunday spanning four games.
“We have played exceptional defense since we’ve gotten back from Enid (Saturday),” said Outlaws skipper Doug Weese. “We didn’t have any errors in Texas (Burkburnett on Monday) or Tuesday (at home).”

  • Hawkins chalks up another award
The 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Year Jordan Hawkins, a Carl Albert High School graduate and a senior at Missouri State, is one of 46 student-athletes selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Team for at-large sports. A biology major with a 3.86 grade-point average, Hawkins was named to the University Division (Division I) Second Team and is the only Missouri Valley Conference student-athlete on the list.

  • Titans carry over spring success
Coming off a Class 5A state championship in the spring, the summer version of the Carl Albert Titans are already 10-3 despite having stars JT Realmuto and Taylor Hawkins playing up on the Majors level with the Midwest City Outlaws.

  • Jones bounces past Harrah
Harrah plated the first two runs of a doubleheader Monday night at Jones, but the Longhorns rallied back to sweep the twinbill 13-4 and 11-3.
The Panthers, 0-6, jumped on top early when Greg Morley and Greg Chedester hit back-to-back singles. Teammate David Solmi then walked to load the bases before Shakir McKillip poked a two-run single to right field for a 2-0 lead.

  • Dupont aids Oklahoma
Harrison Dupont of Carl Albert and Donte’ Foster of Guthrie have had some classic matchups the past three years as their teams have battled for supremacy in the Suburban Conference as well as tournament championships and area playoffs.

  • Young Longhorns off to 8-1 start
After ending the 2009 spring season at 16-17, the Jones Longhorns youth movement is on the rise in the summer portion of the baseball schedule.
The unseasoned team is building after going 4-1 in the Okemah Tournament placing third and currently standing at 8-1 overall.
“We’re definitely a better team than in the spring,” said Jones head coach Mike Lowe. “They got that experience and it is helping us.”
The Horns lost just one full-time player to graduation in Danny Humphrey.

  • Outlaws extend winning streak
The win streak is now at 14 contests for the Midwest City Outlaws after run-ruling Stillwater 13-4 Thursday night at Rose State College.
Under Doug Weese, Post 170’s longest win streak was 36 games in 2006, when the Outlaws finished 67-6. Midwest City in ‘09 now stands at 19-1.

  • Outlaws win 8 straight; move to 13-1
The Midwest City Outlaws ran their winning streak to eight games after romping Moore 11-3 Sunday night. Post 170 improved to 13-1 with it’s only loss coming in the finals of the Memorial Day Tournament at Rose State College.

  • Tipton inducted into Hall of Fame
You can call him Coach or you can call him Bill or, if you've known him a long time, you can call him Buddy and he is also known as “Hon,” Grandpa, neighbor and friend.
