Albert Newton Goodman
Albert Newton Goodman, 79, of Choctaw, passed away Nov. 29, 2006. He was born in Inola Oct. 6, 1927, to Santford and Gladys Goodman. In May 1945, he graduated from Claremore High School. He married Maureen Parke in June of 1960. Goodman retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969 after proudly serving for 22 years. He worked as an electronics technician before fully retiring in 1994. A member of Choctaw Church of the Nazarene, he worked in several areas of children’s ministries. He was a member of the Tinker Retired Mixed Bowling League and Happy Tracks Square Dance Club. He was also a member of The Independent Order of Foresters and at one time the Choctaw Roundup Club, American Legion and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters. Goodman is survived by his wife, Maureen; two children, Roger and wife Joanne of Huntsville, Ala., and Ellen of Del City; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. The family thanks the staff of Hospice Quality Care, of Del City, and the Veterans Center in Norman for their outstanding care during his final weeks. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 8, 2006, at the Choctaw Church of the Nazarene, N.E. 10th and Harper. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans Post No. 39 of Midwest City or Love Link Ministries Inc. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home.
Mae Watts
Mae Watts passed away Nov. 29, 2006, in Oklahoma City. She was born in Missoula, Mont. May 22, 1921, to Clayton and Margaret Cau. Her family moved to Seattle, and in 1944 she married Edward Watts and they moved to Chickasha. Shortly after, the couple moved their family to Del City. She is survived by two sons, Ed Watts and wife Ruth and Richard Watts and wife Pam, all of Edmond; a daughter, Sharon Quirk, of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her funeral was held at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service.
Lyle R. Boutwell
Lyle R. Boutwell, of Del City, passed away Nov. 30, 2006. He was born Dec. 23, 1932, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Clara and Wayne Holloway and the youngest of two. He is survived by his wife, Bette Boutwell of Del City; a stepdaughter, Marla Stevens of Del City; two sons, Dennis Boutwell of Tulsa and Kenny Boutwell of Bristow; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Boutwell; and a stepdaughter, Joy Murphy. Boutwell served honorably in the U.S. Army. Over the years, he worked as district manager for Leaseway Transportation, an account manager for Ryder Truck Rental; and owned A-Marketing Insurance Company. He was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City and a longtime member of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service. The Rev. Bill Spain officiated.
Rodney Roy Wilson
Rodney Roy Wilson, 53, of Harrah, was born March 7, 1953, in Metairie, La., to Floyd John and Mary Margaret (Hart) Wilson. He passed away Nov. 30, 2006, in Harrah. He attended schools in Midwest City and was a former reserve officer with the Luther Police Department. Wilson was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by a son, Donald J. Wilson of Midwest City; his mother, Mary Margaret Wilson of Midwest City; and many other relatives and friends, including his special friend and business partner, Faith Phillips. Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. The Rev. Gary Eubanks officiated. Burial followed at Kolb Cemetery in Midwest City. Robert C. “Bob” Noble Jr.
Robert C. “Bob” Noble Jr., 50, of Choctaw, passed away Dec. 2, 2006. He was born to Robert Clark and Jeanne (Cook) Noble June 9, 1956, in Red Bank, N.J. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and worked as a civil service employee at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of the E.A.A. Bob married Marlene Nov. 26, 1981, in Chandler, Ariz. Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene; three daughters, Audrey VanSlooten of Bozeman, Mont., Kimberly Stewart of Oklahoma City, and Keri Williams of Moore; two grandchildren; his father, Robert C. Noble Sr. of New Jersey; three sisters, Pat Noble of New Jersey, Sandy Torres of California, and Nancy Crosgrove of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne. Memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.
William J. Shivers Jr.
Retired Master Sgt. William J. Shivers Jr. passed away Dec. 2, 2006. He and his wife lived in Midwest City for 30 years. Shivers was stationed at Tinker. As his military retirement approached, the Shivers decided Midwest City was perfect for raising their children. He was born June 20, 1934, in Bessemer City, N.C. and graduated from Lincoln Academy in Kings Mountain, N.C. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He married Barbara Evelyn Walls in 1960. Their first move was to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where both children were born. During their 46-year marriage, he and his family lived in places like Niagara Falls, Maine, North Dakota, Incirlik, Adana and Turkey. Shivers retired after 26 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded many medals, ribbons and commendations. He earned a master’s from Oklahoma State University. He also retired from civil service at Tinker. He was preceded in death by his father, William John Shivers; mother, Odell; and stepfather, Grady Meeks. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, Dr. Rodney Shivers and wife Lathonya of Oklahoma City, and Inga Shivers of Irving, Texas; two grandchildren; Uncle Ruben Thomas of North Carolina; a godson, David Block; and cousins and friends. The family thanks the offices of Dr. Terri Funches, Dr. Richard Ishmael and Dr. Wudeneh Zewdie. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
Dolores Mae Suggs
Dolores Mae Suggs died Dec. 2, 2006, in Midwest City. She was born May 25, 1924, in Bartlesville, to Andy and Kate Ayling. She moved to Oklahoma City at the age of 12, after living in Oklahoma and Texas. She married Olan Suggs Oct. 30, 1941, and shared 52 happy years together. She was a member of Portland Avenue Baptist Church for more than 53 years. She is survived by a daughter, Deeda McBride and husband Ray of Midwest City; a son, Terry Suggs and wife Harriet of Mustang; a sister, Mary Ann Wiley of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Jack, Jimmy and Bill; and a daughter, Nancy Field. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Portland Avenue Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Portland Avenue Baptist Church, Forward By Faith Campaign. A special thanks to Midwest City Nursing Center (Becky, Kim, Sharon and Samantha) and Crossroads Hospice for their care of Dolores.
Bobby Guy Weaver
Bobby Guy Weaver, 68, of Del City, passed away Dec. 6, 2006 with his wife, son and daughter by his side. He was born Nov. 4, 1938, in Hartville, Mo. to Andrew and Havanna Weaver. He joined the Marine Corp. in 1962, where he met his wife of 40 years, Gloria (Northum) Weaver. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, Charles and Glenn; and two sisters, Lavon and Frieda. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Dawana Reddick and husband Kevin of Del City; a son, Andy Weaver and wife Crystal of Choctaw; six grandchildren; a brother, Bill Weaver and wife Nora of Richland, Wash.; many other family members; and a host of friends. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Candlewood Chapel. Services were under the direction of Ford Funeral Service.
Bonita “Bonnie” Faye Schaffer Nelson
Bonita “Bonnie” Faye Schaffer Nelson, 70, passed away Dec. 5, 2006, in Harrah. She was born May 13, 1936, in Concordia, Kan. to Charles and Pauline Schaffer. Bonnie and her family moved to Oklahoma in 1942. She married Thurman Nelson May 12, 1955. They moved to Harrah in 1970. She retired from civil service after 25 years. During those years she worked for FAA and Tinker Air Force Base. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Walt Danyeur; and a sister-in-law, Arletta Abbott. She is survived by her husband of 51 years; two daughters, Marcy Ruff and husband Tom of Harrah and Rhonda Tate and husband Bob of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren; a sister, Barbara and husband Chet of Harrah; a brother, Don and wife Inez of Midwest City; a sister-in-law, Jackie Danyeur of Oklahoma City; and a brother-in-law, Leroy Abbott of Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepard Hospice, 4411 Highline Blvd., in Oklahoma City, Okla. 73108-1865. Mary Margaret (Mitchell) Winkler
Mary Margaret (Mitchell) Winkler, 83, of McLoud, was born July 22, 1923, in Lincoln County. She was the daughter of Thomas Wesley and Nancy Elizabeth (Gregg) Mitchell. She passed away Dec. 6, 2006, in Midwest City.
She grew up in the McLoud area and graduated from McLoud High School. She married Paul Thomas Winkler Oct. 13, 1941, in Chandler. After his death, she married John Ivan Winkler May 16, 1999. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McLoud, the County Extension Club and was a Friend of the Library. She was a homemaker, a seamstress in and around McLoud and volunteered at the school. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. Winkler was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and two brothers, Hudon and Rex. She is survived by two sons, David Paul Winkler of Lansing, Mich., and Don Harold Winkler of McLoud; two daughters, Judith Ann Silva of Shawnee, and Mary Elizabeth and Martin Thomas of Emporia, Kan.; two brothers, Bill Mitchell of Tecumseh, and Thomas Mitchell of Prescott, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Services were held at 10 a.m. yesterday at the First United Methodist Church in McLoud. The Rev. Ruth Tipps officiated. Burial followed at Forrest Cemetery in Meeker. John Charles Luckowski
John Charles Luckowski passed away Dec. 6. He was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Greenwood, Penn. to Alexandra Kloczko and Wadislaw Lyczkowski. As a young man, he worked on farms in northeastern Pennsylvania and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. At the beginning of World War II, he volunteered for the Army Reserve and then was called to active duty, transitioning to the Army Air Corps and serving in the China Burma India Theater. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corps. with the rank of sergeant. He married Teresa Lanoll June 20, 1946, in Lawton. After graduating from Spartan Aeronautical School in Tulsa, he worked until his retirement as an aircraft mechanic for the FAA in Oklahoma City. During those many years, he lived in Midwest City and was a founder and active member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Walter; and a sister, Stella. He is survived by his wife, Teresa of Midwest City; three daughters, Joan of Oklahoma City and Judy and husband Lee Harman of Camano Island, Wash., and Jean and her partner Jim Lopach of Missoula, Mont.; two sons, John Jr. and wife Sherri and James and wife Mary; many grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Stanzeski of Scranton, Penn., Ann Sarokas of Taylor, Penn., and Regina Wozniak of Norristown, Penn.; two brothers, Tony Stanzeski of Parma, Ohio, and Chester Stanzeski and wife Dorothy of Spring, Texas; and a large extended family. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Philip Neri Church in Midwest City. The funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Philip’s. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Philip Neri Building Fund.
Clyde Earl Gibson
Clyde Earl Gibson, 90, of Harrah, passed away Dec. 7, 2006. He was 90. He was born March 8, 1916, in Avalon, Calif. He is survived by his companion, Yvonne; a sister, Helen Artman of Sierra Madre, Calif.; a daughter, Minni (Gene) Herdison of Ft. Smith, Ark.; a granddaughter of Harrah; and an extended family.
