Mamie Jerlene Hand
Mamie Jerlene Hand, 74, of Nicoma Park passed away Aug. 31, 2007. Funeral services were held at Baggerley Funeral Home Tuesday, Sept. 4. Burial followed in the Arcadia IOOF Cemetery in Arcadia. She was born in Haskell, Texas, June 5, 1933, to Elmer Delmer and Alice Inez Murphy. She was a wonderful mother to her grandchildren and a loving nanny to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Everett Leo Murphy; and a sister, Ila Grace McKelvey. She is survived by her loving husband, Louis Hand; six children, Judie Bushman and family of Graham, Texas, Steve Hand and family of Yukon, Tommy Hand and family of Edmond, Shelby Hand and family of Edmond, Mark Hand and family of Oklahoma City and Debbie Leggett and family of Jones; a sister, Earlene Vail and family of Page, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 52 nieces and nephews.
Darrel Gene Gann
Darrel Gene Gann, 54, of Jones passed away Sept. 1, 2007. Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Jones IOOF Cemetery in Jones. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. He was born June 16, 1953, in Oklahoma City. He and his wife, Tangelia (Jones) Gann, married July 3, 1991, in Lexington. Gann served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1975. He was the vice president of the Jones Booster Club, and was a member of the Jones Quarterback Club and American Legion. He was very active with his children and school activities. He loved boating, camping and playing with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerrell and Nadine Gann. He is survived by his wife, Tangy; four sons, Jeff Gann and wife Courtney of Jones, Stephen Gann and wife Shannon of Moore, Jonathan Gann and wife Charlie of Newcastle and Bradley Gann and wife Brittini of Jones; three daughters, Amanda Gann of Canada Wisler, B.C., Richenda Gann and Mark of Jones and Jessica Gann and Andy of Jones; six grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, J.R. Gann and wife Sue Ellen of Montana and Cliff Gann and wife Belinda of Edmond; and many other nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
LaDawn Southerland
LaDawn Southerland, 56, of Oklahoma City passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at Baptist Medical Center after a long hard fought battle with multiple illnesses. A memorial service to celebrate her life was 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home Chapel. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast. She was born Aug. 21, 1951, in Shawnee, to Ralph K. Lightfoot and Maxine Wyatt. She graduated from Carl Albert High School in 1969. After graduation, she became a Candy Striper at a local hospital, while going to LPN school. In 1971, she married Robert John Silvy II and had two children, Ashley and Johnny. After her divorce, she married Mike Southerland Jan. 20, 1983, in Texas. They had one child, Blake. During her lifetime, she touched the hearts of many across the state as a Registered Nurse and owner of a Home Health for many years. She loved rose gardening, outdoor activities, collecting antiques, traveling and frequent trips to Starbucks. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph K. Lightfoot. She is survived by her husband, Mike; her parents, Maxine and Harold Wyatt; her loving children, Ashley Silvy, John Silvy, Blake Southerland and Earnado; five grandchildren; and three brothers, David, Nathan and Steve Lightfoot.
Ralph Herbert Garnett
Ralph Herbert Garnett, a long-time resident of Midwest City, passed away Sept. 11, 2007. Services were held Sept. 14 at Paylor Dignity Memorial Chapel in Midwest City. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond. He was born in Wright, Fla., in May 1922 to parents John L. and Mabel Draper Garnett who lived most of their lives in Attalla, Ala. Garnett attended Etowah High School and during World War II joined the U.S. Navy and was sent to Norman for aviation maintenance school. On Valentine’s Day he met Carrie Mae Moore from Dibble, Okla. Before he shipped out for the South Pacific, they were married in Santa Rosa, Calif., and they celebrated more than 60 years together. He served in the Solomon Islands with a group of men who became life-long friends. After the war, Ralph attended Southeastern State College at Durant and earned a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He began his high school teaching career in industrial arts in Tipton, Okla. He also taught at Edmond High School and finished his career teaching industrial arts at the new Carl Albert High School in Midwest City. He was named Oklahoma Outstanding Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year in 1972 by the American Industrial Arts Association. As a retiree, he was an avid golfer and could boost of three holes-in-one. Four of the Garnett brothers served in World War II. They were Milford Everett, Harold and Ernest, all deceased and Lloyd who lives in Anniston, Ala. A sister, Alta Williams lives in Gadsden, Ala. He is also survived by four nieces and many other relatives and friends.
Albert Dale Lowrey
Albert Dale Lowrey, 65, of Newalla was born Sept. 24, 1941 in Hickory County, Mo. He was the son of John Wesley and Allie May (Bartshe) Lowrey. He passed away Sept. 12, 2007 in Newalla. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at the First Baptist Church of Newalla with Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Newalla. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available to share your memories at www.smithparks.com. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a maintenance plant operator at Midwest City High School for 20 years. He enjoyed watching football, repairing mowers and was always outside. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Judy Lowrey of Newalla; a son, Dale Dean Lowrey and wife Jenny of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Beverly Gayle Lowrey of Mesquite, Texas, Mona Colleen Lowrey and Patricia May Lowrey, both of Newalla; five brothers, Gilbert, Calvin, George, Bob and James Lowrey; two sisters, Elaine Nulliner and Patty Owen; three grandchildren, Zane, Heather and Amanda; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Betty Ivey Bell
Betty Ivey Bell, 78, of Oklahoma City, passed away Sept. 11, 2007. Services were Sept. 15 at the Eastside Church of Christ with burial at Arlington Memory Gardens. She was born Feb. 23, 1929 in Stratford, Okla. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dallas Bell in May 2007. She is survived by three daughters, Gwen Glenn and husband Spud of Choctaw, Pandy Moore and husband Hunter and Cindy Bell Peters; two sons, Roger Bell and Jeremy Bell and wife Cynthia; six grandchildren, Eric, Kimberly, Dezare, Abbi, William, Ian and Alicyn; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Mayer; a brother, Jesse Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were conducted by Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home.
Gail Yvonne Potts
Gail Yvonne Potts, 38, of Wellston, passed away Sept. 13, 2007. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday at Kolb Cemetery in Spencer. She was born Feb. 22, 1969 in the Republic of the Phillipines. She was a homemaker who loved cooking and crafts and was devoted to her family. She is survived by two daughters, Sara Potts of McLoud and Catie Potts of Wellston; two sisters, Teresa Mason of Midwest City and Kathy Zertuche of Ft. Worth, Texas; an uncle, Charles Woodworth of Pennsylvania; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded by her mother, Judy Woodworth; her grandparents, Catherine and Harry Woodworth Sr.; and an aunt, Phyllis Woodworth. Services were conducted by Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home.
