Thecla Brandt
Thecla Brandt, 89, passed away peacefully on Aug. 30, 2007 at St. Ann’s Nursing Home. She was born March 29, 1918, the daughter of George A. and Lena Weyel in Evansville, Ind. and moved to Oklahoma City in the early 1920s. She married Fred Brandt Jr. in 1945 and shared a devoted 54 years together. Thecla had lived in Midwest City for 49 years until 2005. She was active in both her church and community lastly working for the Reading for Literacy program at the Midwest City Library in 2004. She is survived by a son, John and wife Elaine Brandt of Parker, Texas; a daughter, Kathryn and husband Doug Hammerbeck of Highlands Ranch, Colo., a daughter, Peggy and husband Paul Hyde III of Palm Harbor, Fla.; a daughter, Judy Rhodes and fiancé Steve Lyon of Frederick, Md.; a sister, Sister Modesta RSM of Mercy Hospital; and seven grandchildren. Thecla was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and two sisters, Dorothy Kallman and Rita Mancini. A wake service will be held at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3 with a funeral mass at St. Phillip Neri at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4. Burial will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City.
Michael R. Martinsen
Michael R. Martinsen, 60, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Aug. 28, 2007 at Midwest Regional Hospital after a year long battle with cancer. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Choctaw. Services were under the direction of Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home. Dinner was provided for family and friends following the burial at the Midwest City Moose Lodge, 8713 E. Main, in Midwest City. Mr. Martinsen devoted his life to his family and his work. He retired from Southwest Roofing after 30 years of service to become Administrator of the Midwest City Moose Lodge where he was a member since 1994. He coached Little League football for the Midwest City Rockets and Girls Softball in the Midwest City Association for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Darrell and Catherine Martinsen; and his brother, Patrick Martinsen, all of Des Moines, Iowa. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jacqueline Martinsen of Choctaw; two daughters, Kristine Henderson of Choctaw and Michelle Caudle of Midwest City; A son, Douglas Martinsen of Choctaw; a self-adopted son, David McDaniels of Newalla; two sisters, Dixie Gelinas of Fitchburg, Mass., and LaMona Hanson of Des Moines, Iowa; 15 wonderful grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He will also be missed by three sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, five sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and many friends that he dearly loved.
Jerrid Thomas Bolt
Jerrid Thomas Bolt, 25 of Choctaw, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007. He was born to David Thomas, Jr. and Tamara Kay (Ingersoll) Bolt on June 9, 1982 in Ada. Jerrid was a Chef Apprentice going to culinary school to become a Chef. He is survived by his father, David Thomas Bolt Jr. and wife Angela; his mother, Tamara Mariano and husband Don; two children, Madison and Nolan; two brothers, Trevor and Jackson Bolt; a sister, Taylor Mariano; his paternal grandmother, Gerry Bolt; his maternal grandparents, John Ingersoll and wife Doris, and Sharon Ingersoll; his grand mother, Peggy Mariano; his great grandmother, Ruth Starkey; his fiancée, Crystal Jackson; his best friend, Lisa Frazier; and a host of friends and other relatives. Jerrid was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, David Thomas Bolt Sr. and his maternal grandfather, Eddie Mariano. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Friday at the Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with entombment at the Arlington Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum. Family requested closed casket, no viewing.
