Bernard R. ‘Benny’ Bluthart
Bernard R. “Benny” Bluthart, 94, passed away Aug. 12, 2007. A viewing was held Aug. 15-16 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home Chapel. Services were 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at Arlington Memory Gardens. He was born March 12, 1913, the son of George C. and Flossie Bluthart of Zanesville, Ohio. He grew up in Zanesville and graduated from Lash High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Wilma “Willie” Mae Kuhn July 20, 1935, and began married life in Beach City. In 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served two years during World War II with the Army Corps of Engineers. He earned two Bronze Stars. He was discharged in 1946 and transferred to the Air Force in 1948. That year he entered the of procurement as a buyer and contracting officer for radar and communications equipment. In 1964, he was transferred to the Oklahoma City Air Materiel Area at Tinker Air Force Base. He moved to Oklahoma and became chief of Communications and Electronics Division. He retired in 1980 as Deputy Chief of Weapons Systems and Major Equipment (Procurement) Division, closing out 42 years of service. He was remarried to his wife during the year of their 60th wedding anniversary by the captain of the U.S.S. Constitution while cruising around Hawaii. He was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to Masonic Lodge 147 in Dayton, Ohio, Scottish Rite of Dayton, Ohio and the India Shrine Temple in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Willie, in 2002. He is survived by a niece, a great-niece, a great-nephew, a great-great-niece, and a special lifelong friend, Rita Ryne, all of Baltimore, Md.
Walter Dee Johnson
Walter Dee Johnson passed away Aug. 15, 2007, at his home in Midwest City. He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Mountain View to Jack and Bessie (Smith) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 during World War II. He was stationed in Germany and received several medals including a Bronze Star. When he returned from the service he married Rosie Mandrell Sept. 6, 1947. They moved to Oklahoma City where they made their home. He entered Barber College and owned and worked in several shops around Del City and Midwest City. He also was employed at Tinker Field until he retired from it. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 55 years. His parents and an infant daughter preceded him in death. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years; two sons, Rick and wife Marsha and Lige and wife Cathy; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty and husband Vernon, Arla and husband Ray of Mtn. View, Okla., Bonnie and husband Carl of Oklahoma City, Joy and husband Hoyt of Moore; and a very dear friend and barber buddy, Harvey and wife Joyce Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Frontier Hospice. Funeral services were held Aug. 18 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with burial at Arlington Memory Gardens. The family received guests Aug. 17 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.
Linda ‘Nannie’ Lou Jacobs
Linda “Nannie” Lou Jacobs, 61, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007. Services were Aug. 16 under the direction of Caskets Inc. at Life Tabernacle Church of Moore. Burial followed at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Midwest City. She was born to John and Dorothy Ferguson Sept. 3, 1945, in Ralls, Texas. She was full of spunk and loved Elvis, butterflies and her family. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Eugene Jacobs; her parents; a sister, Myrtle Anne Ferguson; and her “Granny,” Florine Jacobs. She is survived by three sons, Rickey, James and Ted Jacobs; four sisters; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Adam Wayne Ashley
Adam Wayne Ashley, 24, of Harrah passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, in Cushing. A rosary and wake was held at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. today at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Harrah. Father James Mickus officiated. Burial followed at St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery in Harrah. Services were under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. He was born Jan. 18, 1983, in Midwest City, the son of Martin Ashley and Claire (Lachance) Voyles. He attended the McLoud and Harrah schools and was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Harrah. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and four wheeling. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lindsey Lee Horn. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Martin and Fay Ashley of McLoud; his mother and stepfather, Claire and Kevin Voyles of Harrah; two brothers, Aaron Ashley of Tecumseh and Jeremy Hunter of Carney; two sisters, Amanda Ashley of McLoud and Robin Ashley of McLoud; his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Gail Ashley of McLoud; his maternal grandfather, Donald Lachance of Harrah; his maternal grandmother, Louise Lachance of Harrah; and many other relatives and friends.
Sandra Kay Fannon
Sandra Kay Fannon, 60, passed away Aug. 16, 2007 from a two-year-long illness. Funeral services were held Monday at Candlewood Chapel under the direction of Ford Funeral Service. A reception was held for family and friends after the service. She was born Feb. 28, 1947, in Oklahoma City. She attended Crooked Oak schools and received her GED at Rose State College after the birth of her two children. She was a majorette and loved to dance. She loved her beauty shops “Silhouette Beauty Salons” in the early years and traveling to motocross and drag races with her family. She was quite a cook and had two dogs, Tuffy and Missy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Betty Jo Garcia; and her husband, Bobby Fannon. She is survived by her children, Cheri and Bobby Fannon; three grandchildren; three sisters, Gloria Bastin and husband Gary, Cynthia VanCuren and husband Gary and Pamela Cook and husband Terry; and many family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
Rena Smith
Rena Smith died Aug. 16, 2007. Graveside funeral services were Tuesday at the Arlington Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast. She was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Nyack, N.Y., to Battista and Josephine Rusconi. She married Johnnie B. Smith in 1959. After 10 years in the U.S. Air Force, she became a full-time mother and homemaker and lived in Nicoma Park for 35 years. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Linda L. Rusconi; a son, Alan J. Smith and wife Michelle; two stepdaughters, Anita and husband James Peters and Kathy Griffall; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
