James ‘Jim’ Arnold
James “Jim” Arnold, 78, passed away Aug. 7, 2007. A memorial service was 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home. He was born to Sam H. and Billie Arnold in Cordell May 25, 1929. He attended Cordell High School where he met his future wife Pattie Boothe and they graduated in 1947. He and Pattie then went separate ways, she attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and he attending Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He graduated from OBU in 1952 and was accepted to OU Medical School. After graduating from OU Medical School, he went to Wichita, Kan., for a residency and then was off to the U.S. Navy where he served as a flight surgeon and was the ship’s doctor on a Destroyer Escort. One of his colorful memories was when he crossed the equator and was initiated as a Shell Back. He and Pattie were reunited and married Nov. 26, 1958. After some moving around, they settled down in Midwest City, where he built the radiology department at Midwest City Memorial Hospital, now Midwest Regional Medical Center. He was a radiologist until 1993 when he retired to follow his heart by sharing his joy of life through the African hand drum and Australian didgeridoo. He was introduced to the African drum at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California in 1992, under the guidance of Gordy Ryan. One of his favorite pastimes was trips to the family cabin in Creede, Colo., where he would sit on the porch, enjoy a fine cigar and visit with his many friends. He is survived by his wife, Pattie; two sons, Bruce and Kevin; one daughter-in-law, Shari; six grandchildren; and a brother, Sam.
Dona Ruth Harwell
Dona Ruth Harwell, 66, of Midwest City died Aug. 5, 2007, at Midwest Regional Medical Center. Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home. Burial was at Woodberry Forest Memorial Cemetery in Madil. She was born Feb. 4, 1941, to Ruth and Cecil Baker. She lived most of her life in Midwest City and was a graduate of the Midwest City High School Class of 1959. One of the first nurses hired at Midwest Regional Medical Center, she retired from there after 35 years of service. She continued to volunteer at the hospital until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Harwell; and her parents, Ruth and Cecil Baker. She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Arnold and husband Mark; and two granddaughters, Lindsay and Rachel. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Oklahoma Blood Institute, 1001 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, 73104.
John Kinross Holt
John Kinross Holt, 63, passed away on Aug. 5, 2007 in Harrah. Funeral services were held at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. Burial followed at Harrah Memory Lane Cemetery. A visitation was 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Dr. Willard D. and Iris M. Holt of Altus. He graduated from Altus High School in 1961 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1965. He worked for many years in California in the music industry and relocated to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1973 where he spent his remaining years. He is survived by a son, Jeffrey Ross Holt of Cleburne, Texas; a sister, Kathleen Holt Davis of Hideaway, Texas; a niece, Jennifer Davis of Forney, Texas; a grand-nephew, Carlos Davis of Forney, Texas; and his fiancee, Cecilia Barnes of Harrah.
Jaqueline Saak Scott
Jacqueline Saak Scott, 82, passed away Aug. 6, 2007. Memorial services were 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at Paylor Funeral Home. A graveside service followed at Arlington Memory Gardens. She worked for the federal government as an administrative assistant and test examiner in Oklahoma City before retiring in 1980. She was born in Oklahoma City Dec. 26, 1924, to Orthel and Francis Saak. She was a devoted mother and wife. Her hobbies included gardening for which she won Yard of The Month. She also loved doing community service, raising daschunds and playing the piano. She was president of the local garden club and unselfishly contributed her time as a Cub Scout den mother and supporter of various charitable organizations. She was the Oklahoma County chairman of the Mother’s March for the March of Dimes. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles B. Scott; two sons, Larry and Rodney Scott; two daughters-in-law, Jerrie and Dena Scott; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Saak; two nieces and a nephew; and many relatives and friends.
