Johnny Ray Hudson
Johnny Ray Hudson passed away Aug. 1, 2007. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at Bill Eisenhour N.E. Chapel. Burial followed at Vista Cemetery in Konawa. He was born Oct. 5, 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959. Hudson was married 48 years to Geraldine Elizabeth Barnes. Together they had five children. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in San Diego in 1959, at that time he and his family relocated to his home state of Oklahoma where he was employed at Tinker Air Force Base. He worked at Tinker until he retired April 1, 1993, after 35 years of dedicated service. The family settled in Choctaw in 1966 and the children attended Choctaw schools. Their residence changed only once after that, but Choctaw remained their home town. He loved his wife, Jerry, above all things. He also dearly loved his children whom he would do anything for. He loved to hunt, but most of all, he enjoyed family outings, especially fishing trips where he himself didn’t usually fish, but he baited the hooks and cleaned the catch for his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Columbus Hudson; his mother, Bernice Hall; and his father-in-law, Raymond Barnes. He is survived by a mother-in-law, Thelma Barnes; a brother-in-law, Phillip Barnes; his wife, Jerry (Geraldine); three brothers, Paul, David and Charles; three sisters, Barbara, Diane and Mary; five children, Lori Ann and husband Craig, Barbara Lynn and husband Mike, Debbie Lee, Ray and Karen Sue and husband Randy; and 11 grandchildren.
Donald Raymond Warne
Donald Raymond Warne of Del City passed away Aug. 2, 2007. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Southeast. He was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Atlantic, Iowa. He worked his farm in Iowa before becoming a jet engine mechanic in California, then Oklahoma. Donald loved his wife, family, working on cars and fishing. He will be forever in the memories of his sons and family. He is survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother, a sister-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends. He served in the Navy during World War II from December 1942 to January 1946. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the local American Cancer Society in his name.
Mary Ruth Holder
Mary Ruth Holder, 81, of Oklahoma City passed away Aug. 3, 2007, at Harrah Nursing Center. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast. She was born Aug. 1, 1926, to Walter and Gerdie (Lawson) Husted in Norman. She had worked for UPS and at Tinker Air Force Base. She attended Bodine Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Daniel Lee Holder; four brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Brown and husband David of Newalla and Carolyn Ruth Holder of Harrah; a son, Roy Lee Holder of Moore; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
Lois C. Martindale
Lois C. Martindale, 71, of Midwest City passed away Aug. 3, 2007. Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service. She was born July 24, 1936, in Okemah. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. Later, she was an active member of the Midwest City Elks Auxiliary and retired from Tinker Air Force Base. She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, John D. Martindale; two sons, Terry Head and his wife Marta and Larry Head and his wife Angie, all of Choctaw; six grandsons; two brothers, Bill Lucas and his wife Joyce of Kingston and Glynn Lucas and his wife Nancy of Midwest City; a sister, Dorothy Penland and her husband Edwin of Edmond; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Goff. She deeply loved her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Meemaw” and who loved her greatly. The family would like to thank the Samaritan Home Health and Hospice of Oklahoma County for the wonderful care given to their loved one.
Gorman C. Sparks
Gorman C. Sparks, 81, of McLoud passed away Aug. 3, 2007 in McLoud. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the First Baptist Church of McLoud. The Rev. Bill Derrick officiated. Burial followed at Dale Cemetery in Dale. Services were under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available at www.smithparks.com. He was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Harrah. He was the son of Ruben and Cora (Hurry) Sparks. He was a lifelong resident of the Harrah and McLoud area, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Lois Tison on Oct. 8, 1950, in McLoud. Mr. Sparks attended OSU, getting his degree in economics. He worked for the Oklahoma Tax Commission for 27 years, retiring as the assistant director of the Motor Vehicle Division. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McLoud, the McLoud Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Chaplain for the McLoud Masonic Lodge No. 126. He enjoyed singing, playing the piano and guitar and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also wrote a book. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alton Curtis Sparks; three brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Lois Sparks; three sons and a daughter-in-law, David W. Sparks of Wellston, Dennis W. Sparks of Harrah and Douglas W. and Meranda Sparks of Newalla; a daughter, Kathy Green of Edmond; a sister-in-law, Lucille Nelson of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
