J.C. Ozbirn
J.C. Ozbirn, 79, passed away July 31, 2007, at his home in Nicoma Park. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel. Burial was at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast. He was born May 16, 1928, to Harley A. and Ola Mae (Hughes) Ozbirn in Cordova, Miss. He married Edna Louise Cooksey May 30, 1980, in Sardis, Miss. He served his country in the Merchant Marines and was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He retired as a long haul truck driver for Trans-Con Trucking Co. He enjoyed woodworking and crossword puzzles. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, three stepsons, a granddaughter and a great-grandson. He is survived by his wife, Edna; two sons, Rick Ozbirn and wife Jan of Castle Rock, Wash., and William Monroe of Texas; three daughters, Debra Gillman and husband Rod of Kila, Mont., Penny Lynn and husband Jeff of Choctaw and Candice Wooten and husband Roger of Nicoma Park; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Helen P. Skorkowsky
Helen P. Skorkowsky, 81, of Harrah passed away July 31, 2007, in Midwest City. Services were 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. The Rev. Gary Eubanks officiated. Burial followed at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah. Services were under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. She was born Feb. 25, 1926, in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of James and Mary Victoria (Fudakus) Parkomick. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrah. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching OU football and basketball, crocheting and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Lee Skorkowsky; a brother; and a sister. She is survived by a son, George Skorkowsky and wife Suzette of Harrah; three daughters, Vicky and husband Lawrence Beitz of Harrah, Kristine and husband Larry Whisenhunt of Stonewall and Lorri Halvorson of Harrah; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
