Elizabeth Anne Shull
Elizabeth Anne Shull, 84, passed away June 29, 2007. Funeral services with military honors were July 3 at Ft. Sill National Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Caskets Inc. She was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Claiborne, La., to Lawrence and Margaret Rice Applewhite. She was one of the first women to serve in the U.S. Army during the World War II era. After leaving the Army, she worked for many years and retired from civil service at Tinker Air Force Base. She was a longtime Del City resident. She is survived by four daughters, Sherin Yardborough, Marion and her husband Elvon Key, Carol Sutton and Margaret and her husband John Armstrong; two sons, Johnny and his wife Ruth Shull and Barry Shull; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Katrina Nicole Visnieski
Katrina Nicole Visnieski passed away June 30, 2007, in Oklahoma City. A Rosary service was 7 p.m. Monday followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Father Mickus officiated. Both the Rosary and Mass were held in St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Harrah. Burial followed in St. Teresa’s Catholic Cemetery in Harrah. She was 24 years of age. She was born Nov. 12, 1982, in Oklahoma City. She was the daughter of Tim Visnieski and Patricia (Messer) Visnieski. She graduated from Harrah High School with the class of 2001 and attended Rose State College. She had worked as clerk and receptionist at Baptist Medical Center in the Pediatric ICU. She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandfather, Martin Visnieski. She is survived by her parents, Tim Visnieski and Marianne Miller of the home in Prague; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry and wife Amy Visnieski of Harrah and Alex Simpson of the home; her grandparents, Veronica Visnieski of Harrah, Beulah Orcutt of Yukon and Bob Miller of Maud; two nephews, Braden and Kolby Visnieski of Harrah; several aunts and uncles, George and Suzanne Visnieski of Harrah, Terrance and Gayla Visnieski of Harrah, Gerald and Kathy Visnieski of Harrah, Mike and Connie Backhus of Harrah, Marvin and Joyce Visnieski of Harrah, Samuel and Lilly Visnieski of Harrah, Sandy and R. D. Mayabb of Pendergrass, Ga., and Debra and Brian Parkins of Guthrie; special friends, Matt Grice, Joe Kreke, Samantha Thomas and Kelly Childs; and numerous other relatives and many friends. Her family would like to thank the physicians and staff of Baptist Medical Center for all of their professional care, kindness and love shown to Katrina and her family during her illness. The family has designated the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Oklahoma and C. F. Solutions of Tulsa as appropriate for memorial contributions in memory of Katrina. Jacob ‘Jake’ Lee Burns
Jacob “Jake” Lee Burns passed away July 1, 2007, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were noon July 6, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel. Burial followed at Arlington Memory Gardens. Service were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast. He was born Sept. 19, 1942 in Hannah to Oscar N. Burns and Gladys Mary (Pierce) Burns. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard receiving his discharge in November 1963. He owned and operated Burns Insulation in Oklahoma City and enjoyed traveling in his R.V., fishing and being outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Riley Maris Starr; his father–in-law and mother-in-law, James and Doreen Vaughan; a brother, Kenneth Burns; and three sisters, Nina Faye Burns, Vernie Burns and JoAnn Jantzen. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara; his children, Shawn Burns and wife Anne of Jones, Gayla Bryant of Jones, Mark Burns of Jones, Christopher Starr of Oklahoma City, Brad Burns, Jacob Burns, Carol Ann Burns and Jeff Burns; five grandchildren; two brothers, J.C. Burns and wife Gertie of Jones and Roy Burns of Georgia; five sisters, Shirley, Marilyn, Myrna, Debra and Nadine; and numerous other friends and family members.
