Will A. Weaver
Will A. Weaver, 85, passed away May 1, 2007. Services were May 4 at Wickline Methodist Church in Midwest City. Services were under the direction of Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home. He was born to E.E. and Eleanor Dell Harmon Weaver in Hankamer, Texas Aug. 21, 1921. He proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1975 after serving 36 years. He loved driving his bus and serving his church. He served his community for many years with the State Fair, voting poll and volunteering at Midwest City Hospital and visitor center. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leo Weaver of Pensacola, Fla. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Weaver; a son, Ron Weaver and wife Rebecca of Modesto, Calif.; a daughter, Robbin Roche and husband John from Midwest City; a brother, Emil Weaver of Beaumont, Texas; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
James C. Shell
James C. Shell, 69, died April 30, 2007, in Oklahoma City. He was born July 27, 1937, in Oklahoma City, to Clyde W. and Alma M. Shell. He was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He served in the U.S. Air Force for six years and then worked at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1987. He loved bowling and watching NY Yankee’s baseball games. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack Shell. He is survived by a nephew, Mark Shell and wife Stacy; a great-nephew, Jake Shell; and friends, David Fry, Kenneth McGee and others too numerous to mention. The funeral service was 10 a.m. May 7 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Burial was 2 p.m. at Elm Grove Cemetery near Muskogee. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Southeast.
Winston Chandler
Winston Chandler, 76, of Norman passed away May 1, 2006. Funeral services were 2 p.m. May 3, 2007 at the Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. He was born to John and Lucy Chandler Sept. 5, 1930, in Reydon. He was a Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Army and retired after 30 years of civil service at Tinker Air Force Base as a logistic management officer. He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church. He enjoyed breeding and showing Arabian horses and he was a member of the Oklahoma Arabian Horse Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Veda (Wright) Chandler; a daughter, Karen and husband Larry Jobe; two grandchildren, Lauren and Daniel Jobe; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Eunice Vesta (Roy) Dunn
Eunice Vesta (Roy) Dunn, 98, of Harrah passed away May 2, 2007, in Harrah. Services were 10 a.m. May 8 at the Summit Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church in Harrah. Elder Bill Norman officiated. Burial followed at the Summit Ridge Cemetery in Harrah. Services were under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available at www.smithparks.com. She was born to William Sherman Roy and Matilda Compton Roy, the youngest of six children Nov. 8, 1908, in Perkins. She was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Winfield, Kan., at a camp meeting when she was 11. She was an active Christian every day following her baptism. When she was 12, the Roy family moved to Ketchum so that the children might attend a church school. After finishing 11 grades, she was sent to Keene, Texas, to boarding school, where she was graduated from the Academy and attended Southwestern Junior College. That summer, she married Maurice Dunn of Ketchum. In the fall, the couple was invited to teach in Little Rock, Ark., and taught there for five years. Then they decided to return to Keene so Mrs. Dunn could finish college. She became quite ill only six weeks before school ended and was unable to graduate. Eunice and Maurice had no children of their own. They settled in Ketchum for a while. But in 1990, they went to Summit Ridge and built a residence. They enjoyed only three years together before Mr. Dunn’s untimely death just a week before their 65th wedding anniversary. The Dunn’s were gardeners and grew prize-winning vegetables. She also gathered blossoms and pressed the tiny petals to design greeting cards.
James R. Blackburn
James R. Blackburn, 78, passed away May 4, 2007. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. May 8 with burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery. He was born Dec. 28, 1928, to Roy B. and Ruby Blackburn in Stratford. He retired from the Army after 25 years service. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, M.T. Blackburn, Roy L. Blackburn, T.H. Blackburn and Augustus D. Blackburn; a sister, Louisa M. Baker; and a son, James Blackburn Jr. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Blackburn; a stepdaughter, Muyumi Hirata; and two sisters, Mary Burrows and Imogene Davis.
Patricia Fern ‘Patsy’ Fore Haley
Patricia Fern “Patsy” Fore Haley, 71, passed away May 5, 2007. Services will be 10 a.m. May 12 at Dickson Baptist Church, 2000 N. Spencer Road, in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, N.E. 36th and Midwest Boulevard. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bessie Vernon Memorial Library, in care of Dickson Baptist Church. The family received guests May 11 at Guardian Norman Funeral Home in Norman. She was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Oklahoma City. She attended Star School and graduated from Choctaw High School in 1953. Later, she attended cosmetology school, owned her own hair salon in Harrah and taught cosmetology at Choctaw High School. She also worked for Fox Meyer Wholesale Drug for 15 years. She was a member of Southgate Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eloise Fore. She is survived by her four children, Jerry Haley II and wife Willie of Moore, Chuck Haley and wife Marlene of Harrah, Dandy Haley and wife Joey of Del City and LaDonna Mandelkow and husband Steve of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Robert LaVerne “Bubba” Fore and wife Karen of Tecumseh and LeRoy Fore and wife Linda of Tulsa; and three uncles, Ed Vernon of Pawhuska, Harold Vernon of Oklahoma City and Bob Vernon and wife Barbara of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Dakota and Bailey Arnold of Del City, Austin Haley and wife Tasha of Oklahoma City, Clayton Haley stationed in Germany, Jenny Rackley and husband Mike of Del City, Jesse Ramon III of Oklahoma City, Jordan Ramon of Oklahoma City and Mariah Mandelkow of Oklahoma City; and many cousins and friends and a grandmother, Margaret Mandelkow.
Isabelle G. Monay
Isabelle G. Monay, 90, of Midwest City passed away May 5, 2007. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10 in the Paylor Dignity Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asked donations be made to Hospice Quality Care. Services were under the direction of Paylor Funeral Home. She was born Aug. 20, 1916, in Spencerville, Ohio, to John A. and Ivy Myrtle Wright Goodwin. She had lived in Midwest City since 1954 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She worked in payroll for the FAA and then for the First National Bank of Midwest City. She loved volunteering at Midwest City Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Lauretta Goodwin. She is survived by a sister, Hazel Barber of Kokomo, Ind.; a nephew, Fred Barber and wife Marilyn of Monee, Ill.; and many friends.
Francis Loraine Damron
Francis Loraine Damron, 93, of Choctaw passed away May 5, 2007, in Midwest City. Services were 10 a.m. May 9 at Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah. Services were under the direction of Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 21, 1913, in Wanette, to Chalmus and Ella Burton. She married Lenard Earl Damron in El Reno June 30, 1952. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three brothers, Burnard, Margeon and Loyd Burton. She is survived by a daughter, Dianne Koch and husband Jack of Norman; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Guy Burton; a niece; and a special friend, May McConnel.
