Mary Ann (Stevens) Dossey

Mary Ann (Stevens) Dossey, 68, was born on Sept. 1, 1938, in Mattoon, Ill. She was the daughter of Charles A. and Mary Margaret (Russell) Stevens. She passed away March 16, 2007 in Shawnee. She graduated from McLoud High School and married Delbert Dossey on Nov. 17, 1957 in McLoud. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base where she worked as a jet engine mechanic. She loved to quilt. Dossey was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Delbert Dossey of McLoud; a son, David A. Dossey and wife Sharon of Shawnee; a daughter, Debra A. Roark and husband Douglas of McLoud; a brother, Charles Edward Stevens and wife Marilyn of Pasadena, Texas; a sister, Carol Latshaw and husband Dick of Lutz, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Services were held Tuesday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. The Rev. Larry Sparks officiated. Burial followed at Dale Cemetery in Dale. Services were under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available at www.smithparks.com.



Donna Jean Miles

Donna Jean Miles, 75, of Midwest City, passed away March 16, 2007. She was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Shawnee, the daughter of Albert and Margaret Johnson. She was raised in Seminole where she graduated high school. She attended the University of Oklahoma as a music major and was the first student to play the harp at OU. She also played the accordion and was a twirler. She received a plaque signed by the OU football team when she retired from Tinker Air Force Base Oct. 31, 1991. She was a long-time member of the Eastern Stars No. 452 in Seminole. She is survived by a daughter, Denyse Heidmeyer Palinkas and husband Edward of Oakville, Conn.; a son, Daryl Miles of Bethany; four grandchildren; two great grandsons; a cousin, Nathylee Whitley of Seminole; two best friends, Polly Smith and Bob McFarland; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Tommy Johnson; and a grandson, John Cameron Miles. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.



Virginia C. Puett

Virginia C. Puett was born May 3, 1921, in Ada. She passed away March 5, 2007, after a brief illness. She was married to Donald Leroy High for 54 years, and they had three sons, Donald, John and Ronald. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and her dogs, and she deeply loved her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; a son, Ronald; her parents, C. C. and Stella Morris; a brother, Brown Morris; and a twin sister, Katherine Hoover. She is survived by Burl Puett, her husband of 10 years; two stepsons, Don Puett and wife Glenda of Broken Arrow and Tim Puett and wife Jennifer of Cordell; two sons, John High and wife Cathy of Jerusalem, Israel and Donald High and wife Bonnie of Midwest City; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services took place 10 a.m. Friday in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service.



Byron Lockhart

Byron Lockhart, 75, of Oklahoma City passed away on March 16, 2007 in Midwest City. Born Jan. 31, 1932 in Calhoun, Miss., he was the son of Graden Dean Lockhart and Clyta Gregory Lockhart. He was a retired U. S. Army Master Sergeant, a former officer for the Oklahoma City Police Department at Will Rogers Airport and a rural letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. He loved fishing and playing with his grandkids. He married Martha Hamilton on May 10, 1952 in Calhoun, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kather Goodson; and a niece, Charolette Goodson. He is survived by his wife, Martha of the home; a daughter, Gina Lockhart of Oklahoma City; two sons, Gary Lockhart of Mississippi and Greg Lockhart and his wife Deborah of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Delmer Sanders; and a number of nieces and nephews; other family members; and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, near Elgin, with burial following the rendering of Military Honors by a U. S. Army Honors Detail from Ft. Sill. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour S.E. Funeral Home.



Louis R. Douglas

Louis R. Douglas, 85, was born on August 10, 1921, in Newby to Lee and Alma Douglas. He passed away March 16, 2007 at his home in Del City. He graduated from Kansas (Okla.) High School in 1939. That same year, he enrolled in the U.S. Civilian Conservation Corps. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and attended radio operator mechanic school in Sioux Falls, S.D., as well as, aviation cadet training at Valley Forge Military Academy and Yale University. He served as a communications officer until 1950 and then in the nuclear weapons program until his retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1969 from the U.S. Air Force. He served in Italy during World War II and in Goose Bay, Labrador and England after the war. He earned an associate degree from Oscar Rose Junior College in Midwest City and a bachelor’s in business administration in 1979 from the University of Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Grace; a daughter, Jan Gardner and husband Mike; a granddaughter; a grandson; and many other relatives and friends. The family received friends Tuesday at Candlewood Chapel. Services were held 10 a.m. today at Candlewood Chapel. Burial took place at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Ford Funeral Service.



Leon Vernon Smith

Leon Vernon Smith, 79, was born March 8, 1928 in Harrah, the son of James Roy and Edna Earl (Fisher) Smith. He passed away March 16, 2007 in Stillwater. He served in the 45th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his bicycle. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian Mathis. He is survived by two daughters, Tonya Robins and husband Brett of Stillwater and Shaunna Smith of Henryetta; five brothers, Lester, Elton, Thurman, Hershall and Verlon Smith; four sisters, Loretta Williams, Velda Mathis, Evelyn Mathis and LaJuana Vinson; four grandchildren; and many others. Graveside services were held Monday at Jamison Cemetery in McLoud. Services were under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available at www.smithparks.com.
