Agnes Veronica Jeffries
Agnes Veronica Jeffries, 96, of Midwest City, passed away Feb. 26, 2007, at her home. Services were 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Luther. Pastor Dixie Leonard officiated. Burial was at Evansville Cemetery in Luther. Services were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Parlor and Undertaking in Luther and Wellston. She was born April 10, 1910, in Worcester, Ma., to Frances and Annie (Willis) Mahoney. She married Claude Jeffries, and they had three children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude. She is survived by three children, Mary Fields and husband Glen of Luther, Helen Brown and husband Ralph of Midwest City and Donnie Jeffries and wife Debi of Luther; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Mahoney and John Mahoney; and many others.
Bill Samuel Ward
Bill Samuel Ward, 78, of Canton, Texas, died Feb. 26, 2007, in Oklahoma City. Services were March 2 at the First Assembly Lighthouse Church under the direction of Caskets Inc. Burial was March 3 in Crandall, Texas. He was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Dale, to Ernest and Dottie Ward. Mr. Ward lived in Canton since 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dottie Ward; two brothers, Carl Ward and Paul Ward; a sister, Lorene Cordray; mother-in-law, Opal Eppler; and stepson, Bobby Mayne. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ward of Canton; the mother of his daughters, Helen Ward; his daughters, Wanda Dillard of Harrah, Carolyn Stramski of Oklahoma City and Billie Reust of Sacramento, Calif.; his sisters, Shirley Lee of Wichita, Kan., and Jerry Newby of Midwest City; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Lester “Buddy” Leon Franks
Lester Leon Franks was born March 20, 1938, to Eldon and Eliza (Pemberton) Franks in Buffalo. Funeral services were 2 p.m. March 3, 2007, at the Countryside Baptist Church. Burial was 2 p.m. Sunday at Clearlake Cemetery in Clearlake. Services were conducted by Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home in Midwest City. He graduated from McLoud High School in 1958. He married Geneva Hall Oct. 6, 1960, in Mooreland. They had two children. Mr. Franks went to work for the MK&T Railroad in 1969, but left in 1972 because of railroad line closure. The family joined Woods Baptist Church April 4, 1976, and he was ordained as a Deacon April 24, 1983. He and his wife moved membership to Countryside Baptist Church Oct. 14, 1990. He is survived by his wife, Geneva; a son, Eldon “Pete” Elvan Tincher and wife Dianne of Clinton; a daughter, Dixie Jean Smith and husband Bernie of Gate; four grandchildren; and six brothers, LeRoy, Raymond, Melvin, J.E., Terry, and Bobby. He was preceded in death by his parents,his mother and father-in-law, a granddaughter, twin brothers and many others.
Ova Eldredge
Ova Eldredge passed away Feb. 28, 2007. A celebration of her life was 10 a.m. March 5 at Sunny Lane Chapel in Del City. Interment was at Sunny Lane Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday at Bill Eisenhour Funeral home. She was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Bristow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and a son, David. She is survived by a daughter, Frances Pearce; three sons, Kenneth, John and Bobby; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.
Sherri Dennice Greenlee
Sherri Dennice Greenlee, 43, passed away Feb. 28, 2007, in Midwest City. Services were 10 a.m. March 5, 2007, at the St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in McLoud. The Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. officiated. Burial followed at St. Teresa’s Catholic Cemetery in Harrah. She was born Feb. 4, 1964, in Oklahoma City. She was the daughter of Johnny Bert Greenlee and Clois (Cole) Gimenez. She was a beautician and she enjoyed music and visiting friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Greenlee She is survived by a son, Cody Sage Greenlee of Choctaw; her father and stepmother, Johnny B. and Patty Greenlee of McLoud; her mother, Clois Gimenez of McLoud; two brothers, Anthony Paul Greenlee and Daniel Scott Greenlee, both of McLoud; a sister, Keili Effinger of McLoud; a paternal grandmother, Martha Greenlee of Choctaw; and many others. Judith Ann “Judi” Sanders
Judith Ann “Judi” Sanders, 57, of Del City, passed away Feb. 28, 2007, in Del City. A memorial service was 10 a.m. March 5 at New Life Baptist Church. Services were under the direction of Ford Funeral Service. She was born June 12, 1949, to Anthony and Esther Hansen. Mrs. Sanders is survived by her husband, Freddy Joe Sanders; a son, Patrick Fuller and wife Heather of Edmond; a daughter, Kati Christ and husband Allen of Edmond; a stepson, Brian Sanders and wife Gayle of Maysville; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Caldwell and husband Kevin of Lindsay; a sister, Sue Beranek and husband Allen of Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, Mike Hansen and wife Mary of Waukesha, Wis., and John Hansen of Sussex, Wis.; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and aunts. A native of Milwaukee, Judi was a 1967 graduate of St. Pius XI School. She relocated to Del City in 1984 and built a logistics business. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Sanders’ name to The National Arthritis Foundation or The American Heart Association.
Vernal Lee Frazier
Vernal Lee Frazier, 83, of Oklahoma City, passed away in March 1, 2007, Midwest City. Services were 10 a.m. March 3 at Open Door Baptist Church. Burial was at Arlington Memory Gardens. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Penalosa, Kan. He served in the Army during World War II and retired from the Oklahoma City Police Department as a police officer. He also owned his own lawn service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Byron and Maude (Burling) Frazier; a sister, Florence Wiltse; his wife, Aileen Frazier; and a son, Freddie. He is survived by three brothers, Vernie and Olene Frazier of Fairview, Lester Frazier of McLoud, and Clarence and Carole Frazier of Wichita, Kan., four sisters, Marjorie Stonehocker of Lahoma, Annabell Barnett of Oklahoma City, Ruth Wilson of Enid and Ruby Bridges of Garber.
Olive Frances McMahon Chrisope
Olive Frances McMahon Chrisope, was born Jan. 4,1915, in Cherryvale, Kan., to Ralph Scott McMahon and Anna Ione Means McMahon, the youngest of six children, all of whom preceded her in death. Frances awoke in God’s Hands on March 2, 2007, surrounded by her family. She graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1932, beginning her working life as a secretary in Kansas City, at a radio station. During World War II, she worked as a seamstress making uniforms, afterwards Herb and Frances owned the Chili King in Cherryvale, prior to moving to Georgia in 1950, being her civil service career. Moving to Midwest City in 1953 and retiring January 1972. Life centered around her church and family, band parents during the 1950s, sewing, ceramics, boating and traveling. She traveled to every state in the Union, belonged to the Rolling Rockers, Edmond Out of Towners and Good Sam camping clubs. She traveled with NOAH, with her final trip December 2006. She was an active member of Wickline Methodist Church, NOAH Club, taught Sunday school and was in the Order of Amaranth. She married Herbert Dunsworth Chrisope Aug. 26, 1934, who preceded her in death after 56 years of marriage and having four children. She is survived by daughter, Suzanne Carol Russell and Don of Broken Arrow and her children, Joseph Michael and Vicki Looney of Tulsa, David Nicholas and April, Sophia and Rosemary Stapleton of Bartesville, Rebecca Suzanne and Grace (Cox) Smart of New York, N.Y., and Scott Thomas and Terri, Jessica and Atomos Stapleton of Tulsa; a son, Thomas Ronald and Bonny of Rochester, Minn., and his children, Jennifer Pat and Michael, Mickey, Sarah, Sam and Kate Drury of Westerville, Ohio, Jeffrey Thomas of Seattle, Wash., and Sarah Elizabeth, deceased; a son, Gerald Scott and Sharon of Choctaw and his children, Sharane Carol and Scott, Elise, Kristina and grandson Aiden Boehlke of Choctaw, Sean Scott of Oklahoma City, Dustin Jared of Choctaw and Brenden Kelly, deceased; a daughter, Judith Elaine Porter and James and her children, Jonathan Brady and Nicholas and Natalie of Midwest City, Jeremy Wayne and Theresa, Jenna, Connor and Kaitlyn of Midwest City; and a stepson, Michael James and Paula of Hampton, Va. Thanks to Harlene Gartrell, Preferred Hospice, Noel Leola Irwin and Sheryl West and Noel for their loving care. Services will be 10 a.m. March 8, 2007, at Wickline United Methodist Church, under the direction of Ford Funeral Service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kan.
Clarence Edward Colibert
Clarence Edward Colibert, 89, passed away March 3, 2007. Services were Tuesday at Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Arlington Memory Gardens. Services were under the direction of Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home. He was born to Alexander Victor and Glendora Marr Colibert Feb. 14, 1918, in Guthrie. He attended Northwestern State College in Alva in 1941. At the start of World War II, he enlisted and served with the Fifth Army and was part of the invasion force that captured Rome on June 5, 1944. He married Dorothy Chandler Feb. 22, 1946. They had two sons, John Colibert of Midwest City and Mikel Colibert of Edmond. He was employed at Tinker Air Force Base for 30 years. He is survived by his sons, John Colibert and Mikel and Kimberly Colibert; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, Alexander and Glendora Colibert; and his siblings, Marion Colibert, Ruby Colibert Mayes and Walter Colibert.
Nora Caspersen Elgard
Nora Caspersen Elgard, passed away March 3, 2007. The family received friends Monday at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial was at Arlington Memory Gardens. She was born Jan. 8, 1915, on a farm near Boelus, Neb., to Hans and Johanna Caspersen. She was baptized and confirmed at Dry Creek Lutheran Church. She married Linn Jennings Elgard April 28, 1942, in Boelus, Neb. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Mahoney of Midwest City, LaDonna Schultz and husband John of Midwest City and Gleynis Edwards and husband Sam of Mustang; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linn; her parents; seven siblings; and a grandson, David Mahoney.
Gladys Day
Gladys Day, 76, of Del City, passed away March 3, 2007. A memorial service was 10 a.m. today at the Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. She was born July 14, 1930, in Apache to Herbert and Molly Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her son, David Long; her parents; three brothers, Snooky, Boog and Walter Wyatt; and a sister, Imogene Hay; and an infant brother and sister. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Moody of the home and Susan Mulanax and husband Tommy of Shawnee; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Dunn of Oklahoma City, Pat Christoper of Woodward and June McKinney of Beaver; a brother, Clois Wyatt of Checotah; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
