Garry Earle Ryan
Garry Earle Ryan passed away Feb. 17, 2007. Family held a visitation March 1, 2007, at Hibbs Funeral Home in Choctaw. Graveside services were at Resthaven Cemetery 1 p.m. March 2, 2007, in Shawnee. He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Nelson H. and Vida (Tate) Ryan. He graduated Shawnee High School in 1952. He also attended Oklahoma A&M, Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was an active reservist until 1965. In 1958, he married Carol Ridenour. They had five children. He was a 42-year employee of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Mr. Ryan was a longtime member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee. He was a certified track and field official for many years. He is survived by his children, Garry II, Karra Sipes, Paula Sendall, Sharra Wilson and Marla (Jeanie) Padron; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice on Norman or a favorite charity.
Hazel Ferne Stone
Hazel Ferne Stone, 94, formerly of Rush Springs, passed away Feb. 23, 2007, at Town and Country Manor in Boerne, Texas, with her daughter by her side. Services were 2 p.m. March 3, 2007, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs. The Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiated. Burial was at Rush Springs Cemetery. She was born in Walters on May 18, 1912, the seventh of eight children born to Lota and Jacob Grose. She attended Duncan High School, where she met Wirt Stone. They were married April 14, 1934, in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Walters. They lived in Marlow until the 1940s when they moved to Rush Springs and joined the Southern Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was known as “Nannie” to her grandchildren and “Mom” to Rebecca (Becky) who was adopted at the age of three weeks and remained their only child. She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Muegge of Boerne, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation was March 1 at Vaughan’s Funeral Home in Boerne, Texas and prior to the service March 3 at the Southern Baptist Church. Services were under the direction of Vaughan’s Funeral Home of Boerne. Donations may be made in her memory to Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN, 37214-0800.
William “Joe” A. Ingram
William “Joe” A. Ingram, 92, of Choctaw, passed away Feb. 24, 2007. Services were 1 p.m. Feb. 28, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour N.E. Chapel. Burial was at Arlington Memory Gardens. Mr. Ingram was born Oct. 10, 1914, in Seminole. He married Ruth Ellen (Walker) Ingram Oct. 14, 1942, in Sulphur. He attended the Nicoma Park Church of Christ. He retired from Tinker in the 1960s. He served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Argle and Edith Barnes Burfield Ingram; and 11 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, David William and wife Carol of Choctaw; a daughter, Jannett Braswell and husband Ed of Stafford, Va.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Ingram of Sulphur; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. Thelma I. Hemphill
Thelma I. Hemphill, 98, of Oklahoma City, passed away Feb. 25, 2007. Funeral services were 1 p.m. March 1, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Carney Cemetery. She was born May 30, 1908, in Dalton, Ark., to John and Martha (Gregory) Baker. Thelma worked many years in the nursing field and love colorful flowers. She attended Rock Creek Baptist Church near Stilwell. She is survived by a daughter, Dora Lee Ervin and husband, Earl H. of Mansfield, Texas; a son-in-law, John Tidwell; five grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rexie Lou Tidwell; a grandson, Richard Ervin; two brothers; and one sister.
Shirley J. Glover
Shirley J. Glover, 74, of Midwest City, died Feb. 25, 2007, at St. Anthony’s Hospital after complications from pneumonia. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Feb. 28, 2007, at Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home. Interment followed at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin. She was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Midwest City to R.F. and Mildred Harris. She loved traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, antiquing, and in earlier years, enjoyed dancing. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Richard Harris. She is survived by her husband, Max; a brother, George Wesley and Lucille Harris of Del City; and a daughter, Mary and husband Darrel Ford of Midwest City; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
Wilburn H. Lind
Wilburn H. Lind, 84, of Midwest City, passed away Feb. 25, 2007. Graveside services were 1 p.m. Feb. 25, 2007, at Arlington Memory Gardens. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour N.E. Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Decor Community, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the trucking business and retired from Trans Con Trucking Company in the 1990s. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mildred; his parents, Arthur and Dainty (Jones) Lind; two sisters; and a brother. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Black and husband David of Oklahoma City; two sons, Wilburn Lind Jr. and wife Sue of Ohio and Joe Lind of Midwest City; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four brothers.
Victor Calvin Walker
Victor Calvin Walker, 91, of Jones, passed away Feb. 26, 2007, while in Midwest City Nursing Home, after an extended illness. Funeral services were 10 a.m. March 1, 2007, at the Jones Assembly of God Church. Burial followed at Jones IOOF Cemetery. He was born Sept. 8, 1915, to Victor Calvin and Katie (Wright) Walker in Roger Mills County. He married his childhood sweetheart, Ilo (Steward). They lived and raised their five children in Jones and ministered to others at the Assemblies of God churches. He was a car salesman, farmer, dairyman and dealer of all trades. During his early years, he operated a large dairy and farm. He is survived by four children, J.C. and wife Glenda Walker of Jones, Sandra and husband Jack Orr of Holland, Ohio, Warren and wife Pat Walker of Valdese, N.C.; Vick and wife LaQuita Walker of Jones; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vic and Katie Walker; wife of 64 years, Ilo; a daughter, Sheryl Walker Colvin; two brothers and three sisters. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home.
Ramon Arthur Spaeth
Ramon Arthur Spaeth, 77, of Harrah, passed away suddenly of an aneurysm Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007. Mr. Spaeth was a second generation owner of Spaeth, Inc., Oklahoma’s oldest member of Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors. He was born April 15, 1929, Kansas City, Mo. He moved to Oklahoma in 1942. There, he met LouAnn Waddle and the couple married Aug. 26, 1950. Ramon and LouAnn Spaeth were the proud parents of five boys and two girls. His hobbies included woodworking and bowling with his many friends at Planet Bowl in Midwest City. A loving husband, father and brother, he is survived by his wife LouAnn of the home in Harrah; four sons, Steve Spaeth and wife Denise of Oklahoma City, Kevin Spaeth of Newcastle, Kent Spaeth and Wife Brenda of Midwest City and Dan Spaeth and wife Kathy of Harrah; two daughters, Ramona Sossamon and husband Larry of Jones and Susan Gillmore and husband Dean of Moore. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Ray Spaeth; his parents, Ervin and Violet Spaeth; three brothers and one sister. People wishing to honor the memory of Ramon Spaeth may do so by contributing to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or the St. Teresa’s Parish in Harrah, Building fund.
John O’Brien Mott
John O’Brien Mott died Feb. 27, 2007. He was born in Milden, Saskatchewan Canada Sept. 11, 1914, to Rose and Eugene Mott. During the depression in 1929, at age 16, he came to the U.S. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa. He served in the CCC and joined the Army in 1940 until 1951 and attended Officer Candidate School. Mr. Mott retired as a major in the Air Force in 1963. While stationed at Camp Grant in Rockford, Ill., he met Santina Denoto. They were soon married. Later, he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base as an executive officer and was instrumental in the construction of the current base hospital. His second career at Tinker was as a civil servant in occupational medicine and health. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ralph and Gene; and a grandson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Santina; father, Gene Mott and wife Jana; daughter, Marie Burris and husband Don; a granddaughter; and two great-grandsons, all of Oklahoma City. Funeral services were 10 a.m. March 3, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Arlington Memory Gardens.
Jimmie Ray Niklas
Jimmie Ray Niklas, 64, passed away Feb. 27, 2007. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 24, 1943, to Carl and Mary Niklas in Henryetta. He retired as a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Sun; two daughters, Susan Niklas and Janet Phillips; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Eddie and wife Carolyn Niklas; and a sister.
Billie Lou Turk
Billie Lou Turk, 93, of Midwest City, passed away Feb. 27, 2007. Services were 10 a.m. March 2, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour N.E. Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. She was born April 27, 1913, in Boonville, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her parents; an infant daughter; a daughter, Patricia; a son, Butch; and a brother. She loved her family and is survived by a daughter, Barbara Sund and husband Gordon of Arizona; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins.
