Clifford E. Burns

Clifford E. Burns, 98, of Oklahoma City, died Feb. 10, 2007. Services were held Wednesday at the First Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Burial followed at Norman IOOF Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available at www.smithparks.com. He was born to Frederick Edward (F.E.) and Ida Mae Burns Nov. 4, 1908, in Willow View. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s in education and taught in Blackburn School District for four years. He went to work for the Department of Public Welfare in June 1942. He began his career as a caseworker in the southern half of Cleveland County. He transferred to the state office in Oklahoma City in 1945. He was appointed as administrative assistant for Personnel and Operations in 1967. He retired December 1982. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alice N. Burns; his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by two brothers, Lloyd and Beryle Burns of Riverbank, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Warren Myers of Norman; three nieces; and two nephews. Donations may be made to the Free to Live animal sanctuary, P.O. Box 5884, Edmond, OK, 73083.



Julia Francis Wilcox Turnbull

Julia Francis Wilcox Turnbull, 82, of Midwest City, died Feb. 10, 2007. Mrs. Turnbull was born April 26, 1924, to Oscar DeForest and Winnie May Williams Wilcox in Kelso, Wash. She was a graduate of Hobart High School in 1942 and attended the University of Oklahoma. In 1948, she married Charles E. Turnbull in Hobart. Mrs. Turnbull was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Linda Carol Turnbull Spears Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, Charles; two sons, Charles E. Turnbull Jr. and wife Pat of Lake Forrest, Ill. and Joseph Martin Turnbull and wife Gayla of Edmond; a son-in-law, John Hamilton; and five grandchildren. She was assistant to the Kiowa County Schools superintendent in Hobart. She taught at Bernells, a private school in Virginia and at Wattana Wittaya Academy in Thailand. She was assistant administrator at Four Seasons Nursing Center in Midwest City. She was Director of Christian Education at the Midwest City Presbyterian Church when she retired. She taught church and Bible school and was a moderator for the Presbyterian Women Association, a member of the Christian Education Council of First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City; a former member of the Oklahoma Hospitality Club and the Tinker Officers Wives Club; a Girl Scout leader, a leader of International Girl Scouts, a den mother and an Eagle Mother for the Boy Scouts, a member of the Needlepoint Guild, and an ordained Presbyterian elder. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour N.E.



Lloyd Leon Neighbors Jr.

Lloyd Leon Neighbors Jr., 57, of Jones, passed away Feb. 11, 2007. Services were held Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Jones. Burial took place at Canute Cemetery. He was born Jan. 1, 1950, in Elk City. He married Donna (Dewberry) Neighbors Feb. 15, 1986, in Oklahoma City. He attended the First Baptist Church of Jones. He was a Vietnam Navy veteran and the first president of Jones Historical Society. He enjoyed fishing and was active in historical societies, communities and the Navy League of U.S. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his mother, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Music) Neighbors; a daughter, Brandy Brinkley and husband Philip of Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Leon Neighbors Sr.



Mary Louise Coulter

Mary Louise Coulter passed away Feb. 12, 2007. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Del City. Services were under the direction of Ford Funeral Service. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond. She was born July 1, 1925, in Chickasha. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin J. Coulter. Mrs. Coulter is survived by her three children, Patricia Dearmon and her husband Clellan of Oklahoma City, Melvin J. Coulter Jr. and wife Debbie of Yukon, and Royce Coulter and wife Paula of Bixby; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives. In the early 1940s, Mr. and Mrs. Coulter moved to Del City where she worked at Douglas Air Craft, during the war years, producing C-47 Skytrain cargo aircraft. After the war, she devoted her time to her family, until the mid 1960s when she returned to work at John A. Brown department store at Penn Square. Mrs. Coulter was active in the local PTA, Del City chapters of the Order of Rainbow Girls and The Order of Demolay. She served as president of the Del City Demolay Mothers Club, as the state director and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Del City.



Jack Grable Dingus Jr.

Jack Grable Dingus Jr., 48, of Oklahoma City, passed away Feb. 12, 2007. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial took place at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 18, 1958, to Jack Grable and Patricia Ann (Reed) Dingus of McDowell, Ky. He and his wife Karla moved to Oklahoma in July 1982. They were married in September 1982. They made their home in the Mid-Del area. He was employed by the Joseph C. Williams Company for 17 years. In 2000, he joined the Wal-Mart Corporation until he became ill. He was active at Sooner Rose Elementary where he served as PTA president and was “Patron of the Year”. He attended Crest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack G. Dingus Sr.; his stepparents, Janice Griffith Dingus and Charles Frye; and an uncle. He is survived by his wife, Karla; a son, Jack III (Munchie); his mother, Patricia Ann Frye of Alabaster, Ala.; three sisters, Cheri Ousley of Lexington, Ky., Pam Howarah of Dayton, Ohio and Kim Fredrick of Alabaster, Ala.; two brothers, Kent Dingus of Prestonburg, Ky., and Keith Dingus of Maytown, Ky.; and numerous other relatives.



Geneva E. Heatwole

Geneva E. Heatwole, 90, of Midwest City, died Feb. 12, 2007, in Oklahoma City. Funeral Services were held Thursday at the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service. Burial was at Arlington Memory Gardens. Dr. Leslie C. Brown officiated. She was born April 4, 1916, in Dustin, to Samuel and Mary White Miller.



Roy Neal Johnson

Roy Neal Johnson, 64, passed away Feb. 12, 2007, in Midwest City. He was born June 1, 1942, to Roy and Helen (Walker) Johnson in Sparkman, Ark. He then moved to El Dorado, Ark., and lived there for 20 years. In 1994, he moved to Midwest City. He was a housing roofer. Mr. Johnson was a member of Zion Worship Center in Midwest City. He enjoyed fishing, walking and watching the Three Stooges, Sanford and Son, Gun Smoke and Bonanza. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a sister, Angie Sanders of Midwest City; a brother, Nathaniel Whitaker; two nephews; his uncle, Elzie B. Walker; and several cousins and friends. Funeral services were held Friday at Bill Eisenhour N.E. Funeral Home. Burial was at Kolb Cemetery in Spencer.



Myrtle M. (Myrle) Yates

Myrtle M. (Myrle) Yates, 93, passed away Feb. 12, 2007. Funeral services were held Friday at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Midwest City. She was born Sept. 10, 1913, in Marietta. She was proud of her abilities as a cosmetologist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Russell Yates, whom she wed Jan. 19, 1929, in Wewoka. She is survived by four daughters, M. Louise Ragsdale of Midwest City, Anna Charlene Agee of Greenville, S.C., W. Jeannie Howard of Enid and Virginia Elaine Ragain of Wichita, Kan.; and many other relatives. She will rest beside her husband “Blue” at Arlington Memory Gardens.



James H. Cook

James H. Cook, 60, passed away Feb. 13, 2007. He was born in Mountain Park, to Kenneth and Eva Cook. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Marine Corps. He was a horseshoer by trade. He enjoyed horses, horse racing and fishing. He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Jack and husband Thomas and Mona Heilman and husband J.B.; nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Larry Mitchell Cook. Services were not announced. They are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour S.E.
