Reba Nell Luschen
Reba Nell Luschen, 70, passed away Feb. 1, 2007, in Midwest City. She was born June 27, 1936, to Frank and Ruth Robinson in Muskogee. Services are under the direction of Hibbs Funeral Home. She was a simple woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, watching soap operas, playing dominos and solitaire and entertaining all. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Luschen; two sisters, Ruby Bacon and Betty Roberts; a brother, Bob Robinson; and two daughters, Linda and Gayle Reaves. She is survived by a son, Johnny Ray Reaves; two brothers, Charles Robinson of Blanchard, and Bill Robinson and wife Phyllis; a sister, Shirley Smith and husband Marion; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Arthur Horning
Arthur Horning, 81, born in Alma, Mich., June 21, 1925, to Peter B. Horning and Lucy E. (Halliday) Horning, passed away Feb. 6, 2007, in Walland, Tenn. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Feb. 12, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Interment was at Arlington Memory Gardens. Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour S.E. He was formerly, of Midwest City. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Phillips and husband James, Mary Kriz and husband Merle, Margaret Shallenberger and husband Craig; a son, Arthur Horning Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, LaVerne; eight brothers and sisters; son, Donald R. Horning; and daughter, Patricia Lea Payne.
Willie Hershell Johnson
Willie Hershell Johnson, 77, of Oklahoma City, passed away Feb. 6, 2007. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Feb. 10, 2007, at the Gospel Tabernacle Church. Burial was at Arlington Memory Gardens Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home. He was born to Fred V. and Fannie Mae (Rice) Johnson Oct. 22, 1929, in Rossville. He lived in the Eastern Oklahoma City area since the late 1950s. He was an active member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church. He worked as a frame fitting mig welder. He married Dessie Lee Fain Dec. 24, 1952, in Shawnee. He is survived by his wife, Dessie; two sons, Mike Johnson of Oklahoma City and Steve Johnson of Harrah; three daughters, Joyce Willmon of Moore, Gayle McClung of Jones and Kathy Streun of Noble; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Johnson of Kansas; and two sisters, Elsie Bragg and Betty Spencer, both of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Luther; and a great-granddaughter.
Melba Voncille (Prince) Hargus
Melba Voncille (Prince) Hargus, 78, passed away Feb. 7, 2007, in McLoud. Services were 2 p.m. Feb. 9, 2007, at the Harrah United Methodist Church. The Rev. Glenda L. Skinner-Noble officiated. Interment followed at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah. Services were under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available at www.smithparks.com. She was born May 14, 1928, in Wirt, Okla., the daughter of James Washington and Clym Eva (Grace) Prince. She graduated from Waurika High School in 1946 and attended Cameron University in Lawton prior to marriage. She married Thomas Newton Hargus April 25, 1947, in Waurika. Melba was a loving mother, wife and made a home for her family. As the children attended school, she worked at businesses in and around Harrah, including Seikel’s Grocery, Navarre’s Drive In and McCorkle Truck Lines. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Virginia Lykins. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Hargus of Bethel Acres; two sons, Patrick and Deanna Hargus, of Harrah and Michael Hargus of Oklahoma City; four daughters, Linda and Terry Gay of Midwest City, Nancy and Charles Loomis of Warr Acres, Ann and Greg Baker of Eufaula and Lisa Smith of Oklahoma City; a sister, Mona Venable of Mesquite, Texas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the McLoud Nursing Center.
Kathryn M. Hartley
Kathryn M. Hartley, died Feb. 8, 2007. She was born in Tipton, Kan., Nov. 10, 1913. She and her husband, Murl, who died in 2002, were married 66 years. They moved to Midwest City in 1953, where she resided at the time of her death. Kathryn was preceded in death by her mother, Anna H. Beck Lambert; her father, John Beck; four brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law, James C. Webster. She is survived by her son, Jim Hartley and wife Lana; daughters, JoAnn Webster and Kay Zvonek and husband Carl; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and will live in our hearts forever. Special appreciation and gratitude are extended to her relatives and friends who traveled from out of state, Lions Hospice and all her caregivers. A Prayer Vigil was 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1107 Felix Place in Midwest City. Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. Feb. 12 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery.
Clifford E. Burns
Clifford E. Burns, 98, of Oklahoma City, died Feb. 10, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m. Feb. 14, 2007 at the First Methodist Church at 131 N.W. Fourth St. in Oklahoma City. Interment will follow at Norman IOOF Cemetery in Norman. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. A guest book is available at www.smithparks.com. He was born the eldest of five boys and two girls to Frederick Edward (F.E.) and Ida Mae Burns Nov. 4, 1908, in Willow View. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s in education and taught fourth through eighth grade in Blackburn School District for four years. He went to work for the Department of Public Welfare in June 1942. Cliff began his DPW career as a caseworker in the southern half of Cleveland County. He transferred to the state office in Oklahoma City June 1945. He held several other positions within DPW. He was appointed to the position of administrative assistant for Personnel and Operations in 1967. He retired December 1982, after having worked for the department for 37 years. Cliff was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alice N. Burns; his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by two brothers, Lloyd and Beryle Burns, of Riverbank, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Warren Myers of Norman; three nieces; and two nephews. Donations may be made to the Free to Live animal sanctuary, P.O. Box 5884, Edmond, OK, 73083. Visitation was Tuesday at Guardian North Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
Edna Leota (Moseley) Jones
Edna Leota (Moseley) Jones passed away Feb. 12, 2007. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Feb. 15, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 N.E. 23rd St., in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at KOLB Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 14, 2007. She was born March 22, 1914, in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. She married Howard Clinton Jones, her childhood sweetheart and husband of 67 years, on Easter, April 16, 1933. He passed away in 2000. For many years Howard and Edna operated a Holstein dairy farm on 23rd Street. She was an active 4-H Club leader and served as Superintendent of the Blinn House County Home for Girls for 10 years. She retired in 1975. Edna was a member of the Del City First Southern Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. and Gertrude Moseley; four brothers, Chester, Homer, Don and Curtis Moseley; and a sister, Myrtle Rupp. She is survived by three children, Howard Clifford Jones and wife Carolyn of Edmond, Chester Leon Jones and wife Ann of Oklahoma City, and Barbara Gayle Lohrey and husband John of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family thanked St. Ann’s Nursing Home, Alterra Sterling House Assisted Living Center, Santa Fe, and Mercy Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Children’s Center, 6800 N.W. 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK, 73008. Services are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour N.E.
