Christmas tea for Midwest City garden clubs

The Midwest City Council of Garden Clubs held their first annual “Christmas Tea” Saturday at the Council Center on Key Boulevard.

DeAnna Lumry, the president of the council, said the Christmas Tea is an annual event that will be held in conjunction with the Holiday Homes Tour, Bazaar and Bake Sale, an event which “has been held for many years.”

“We’ve had a great showing. The tea is a sellout — 100 tickets,” It’s been a great success,” Lumry said.

Barbara Johnson is the chairwoman for the Holiday Homes Tour and was on hand Saturday, serving guests and making her rounds to greet all the tables of guests.

The council has been in existence for many years with a mission of “furthering community projects,” Lumry said. The council is made up of six individual garden clubs.

Meeting are held each month September through May on the first Monday of the month and the annual garden tour is held on the first Saturday in June, she said.
