Man arrested in Nicoma Park

Three different agencies assisted a Nicoma Park officer requesting back-up Friday night at 8 p.m.

An officer was patrolling when she heard gunshots. She requested help before looking into the situation, said Mark Myers, public information officer for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers from Choctaw Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department Air One and deputies from the OCSO SWAT team came to assist.

When they arrived at the house at 10317 N.E. 19th St. , officers found Colt Wayne Ashlin, 26, attempting to flee the home, said Tim Williams, Nicoma Park Police Chief.

A female inside the home was on the phone with the sheriff’s office dispatch. SWAT team members took her from the house when they arrived, said Myers.

They learned that the homeowner had found Ashlin choking the female after a fight. The homeowner fired his gun to scare Ashlin, said Williams.

Ashlin was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery and obstructing an officer, said Williams.

Williams said all three involved are acquainted with each other. Officers left the scene at 10:30 p.m.
