Apartment shootings

A disturbance at the Orchard Springs Apartments, 1312 N. Midwest Blvd., resulted in two people being shot, one of which was fatal.

According to police report, an altercation occurred around 9:45 p.m. when a group of approximately seven people came into contact with another group estimated to be between 10 to 20 people. A verbal argument followed and shots were fired. Larell Jamez Kemp, 16, and Cameron Jordon, 20, were shot during the altercation.

A black male was said to have done the shooting.

The suspects fled the scene and Kemp was found hiding in a creek while Jordon was located inside the apartment complex. Kemp died around 8:15 a.m. on July 14 as a result of his injuries, police reports said. Jordon was reportedly shot in the leg, but his injury does not appear to be life threatening.

Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said that family members said the conflict was gang related, but that is not yet proven. Clabes said that Kemp does appear in the city’s gang database.

The police department is in the process of interviewing multiple witnesses and asks that anyone with information call 659-1070.

Suspected hit-and-run car found

Police received an anonymous tip regarding the whereabouts of a 2000 Chevrolet Impala believed to be involved in a fatal hit-an- run collision, according to police reports.

The collision involved 18-year-old Midwest City resident Jasmine Lee, who died as a result of her injuries.

The automobile was found on NE 43 and is dark green in color. Police seized the vehicle on July 10 and it has been processed for forensic evidence, according to police reports.

The registered owner is said to be cooperating with investigators and the police department is following up additional leads. The Midwest City Police Department asks that anyone with additional information contact them at 739-1306.
