Monday’s Del City council meeting was a historic one for the city as it is the last to take place in the old city hall at 4517 S.E. 29th Street. Movers will begin this Friday moving the contents of the building to the new location at 3701 S.E. 15th Street.
During this meeting, council members approved the budget for the fiscal year 2009-2010. The general fund budget for the year is set at $10,068,067. The special revenue/limited purpose budget is set at $4,747,636. The city also set aside $250,000 for the Community Development Block Grant and $526,000 in the worker’s compensation account. Internal services/unemployment includes $11,500 and the sinking fund is set at $1.403 million. In the labor relations account, the city budgeted $21,500; they also put $55,000 aside for the police department.
Tall grass seemed to be an issue as well with many council members informing Mark Edwards, city manager, of areas that needed to be looked at by code enforcement officers.
Council members voted to approve a jail service agreement with Oklahoma County for the year. Edwards noted a small increase in incareration fees.
A contract with ThyssenKrup Elevator for elevator service was also passed by the council. ThyssenKrup is set to provide monthly elevator service for the city for $165 a month.
In the consent agenda, council members approved publishing open positions, providing books for the legal department, using McAfee and Taft for labor relations, purchasing concession items for Eagle Harbor Aquatic Center and approving a purchase order for A-Deal Services in the amount of $6,000 for code enforcement abatements.
