Flicko’s: Helping keep memories alive

By Victoria Middleton, editor
The Sunday Sun

Rick and Novalyn Greff know what it is like to open up their own business and to take the risk of success or failure. They tried their luck at Merry Maids 13 years ago, and that business, is still going strong.

Rick, who is retired from Tinker Air Force Base, still runs the cleaning business, which serves the south and east side of the Oklahoma City metro.

Now the family has joined another franchise, Flicko’s Video Workshops, which offers self or professional service to forever capture film, video or other media.

Located at 9036 S. Sooner Rd., Flicko’s offers its services to anyone who wants to preserve their memories for years to come.

Novalyn manages the store with her daughter, Lindsey Cleveland, of Midwest City.

Novalyn said she discovered the business in the Wall Street Journal magazine, while attending a conference in Mephis.

“I just happened to keep only one edition of the paper,” she said. When she saw the Flicko’s advertisement, she had to check the company out.

When asked what drew her to the company, she said, “I really enjoy doing Power-Point presentations, video and putting presentationts together. ”

“The fun is putting it all together and delivering the customer what they want,” she added.

Recently, Novalyn has been working on a sixth grade graduation project, in which she combined video and photos, for students and parents to watch at graduation.

“Putting it all together and making it fun to watch is what it is all about,” she said.

The Louisville, KY based company has six stores nationwide, with six more pending. The company’s mantra is to “create professional, broadcast quality products with speedy service and ‘shock em’ low cost.”

Flicko’s can help customers organize photos from their wedding, anniversaries, etc., as well as home movies, wedding tapes and transfer tapes to DVDs.

Video equipment rental, video editing and foreign converstion is also available.
